The ELECTRIC FLIGHT PROJECT conducts Research and Development associated with electric flight propulsion.
Headquartered at Skagit Regional Airport (KBVS) in Burlington, WA, the project employs the RF5B Sperber motorglider as a safe and efficient Flight Test Platform.
The project goal replicates Sperber's Limbach (VW Aero conversion) existing 65HP/48.5Kw ICE with an Electric equivalent.
The prospect of replacing conventional ICE with electric systems for flight propulsion presents numerous challenges. Since 2012, the ELECTRIC FLIGHT PROJECT has conducted Research & Development into these aspects of electric aircraft propulsion: motors, controllers, batteries, PSRU, computer monitoring and control systems. Ground tests of our 2015 prototype continue. Flight tests expected to commence Summer, 2015
